Invisalign Q & A

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a noninvasive orthodontics treatment that shifts your teeth into an ideal alignment over time using a series of clear plastic aligners. The aligners fit perfectly over your teeth, and because they are clear, most people won’t notice you’re wearing them. Invisalign is an alternative to traditional braces that contain metal wires and brackets.

What are the benefits of Invisalign?

Some of the many benefits associated with Invisalign treatment include:

  • Straighter teeth
  • A better bite
  • Clearer speech
  • No more gaps
  • Less crowding
  • Improved self-confidence
  • No brackets or wires

Invisalign is a noninvasive treatment as the aligners are smooth, comfortable, and easy to use. They can drastically improve the appearance of your teeth and smile.

Is Invisalign right for me?

To find out if Invisalign is right for you, Dr. Ilan reviews your oral health history and examines your teeth and gums. He also takes dental X-rays. If you’re a candidate for the procedure, Dr. Ilan takes digital scans of your teeth and a high-end dental lab creates custom aligners just for you.

What should I expect during Invisalign treatment?

When your aligners are ready, you can begin wearing them. Take them out to eat and brush your teeth, but wear each set of aligners for about 20-22 hours every day. After a week or two, switch to the next set of aligners in the series until your teeth reach their desired alignment.

How should I care for Invisalign aligners?

Properly caring for Invisalign aligners is the best way to optimize treatment and reduce your risk of developing cavities or damaging the aligners. Keep your aligners clean to prevent plaque buildup by using the Invisalign cleaning system available at DPI dental or brushing your aligners with toothpaste and a toothbrush.

Rinse them with warm water, but never hot water as that can warp the plastic. Call Dr. Ilan if you lose or damage your aligners. Brush your teeth at least twice daily and attend routine teeth cleanings at DPI Dental.

Don’t settle for crooked or misaligned teeth if they make you feel self-conscious. Schedule an Invisalign consultation with the experts at DPI Dental over the phone or online today.
